Reverend Father Walid R. Moussa

Rev. Fr. Walid R. Moussa was born in Lebanon on October 3, 1966. He completed his high school studies in Lebanon, became a member of the Maronite Order of the Holy Virgin Mary (O.M.M.), since 1984, and got his B.A. degree in Philosophy from Saint John Lateran University, Rome, Italy, 1987; and another B.A. in Sacred Theology from the same university in 1990. During that same year he was ordained priest, and pursued his higher studies at Saint Thomas Aquinas University, Rome, where he graduated with an M.A. in Ecumenical Theology in 1993.

Rev. Fr. Moussa joined Madonna University, Michigan, U.S.A. where he graduated with a Master of Science in Business Administration in 1995, then pursued his Doctoral studies back in Rome, at Saint Thomas Aquinas University, where he graduated with a Doctoral degree in Ecumenical Theology in 1998.

Academic Posts

He joined Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon, in 1996 as part-time Assistant Professor of Cultural Studies. In 1999 he was appointed as the Director of Administration and served in this post till 2002 while maintaining his teaching position till the year 2005. In 2001 he got two professional certificates namely: Certificate of Quality Management Systems in Vocational Education and Training, and Certificate of Quality Management Technical Auditor (ISO 9000ff). During that time Rev. Fr. Moussa pursued also post graduate studies at Saint Joseph University, Beirut, Lebanon, in School Administration, and completed it in 2004. This professional development took place as a result of his appointment as the Director of the English Section at Notre Dame College of Louaize, Lebanon from 2002 till 2005.

In September 2005, Rev. Fr. Moussa was elected President of Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon.

Fr. Moussa was also elected in July 2008 member on the Board of the International Association of Universities (IAU).

Lately, in October 2011, Fr. Moussa was elected President of the Association of the Universities in Lebanon.

Religious Professional Posts

Rev. Moussa was appointed as the Financial Assistant at the Seminary of the Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sehayle, Lebanon (1996-1997). Prior to that he was the Chaplain, Veteran Affairs Hospital, University of Michigan Hospitals, and Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI, U.S.A. (1993-1995); Religious Master, Seminary of the Maronite Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Rome, Italy (1991-1992); and Pastor at the Diocese of Montecassino, Italy (1990-1993).


The research areas that Rev. Fr. Moussa was involved with are related, but not limited, to the following concerns of knowledge:

  • Field research addressed the multicultural aspects at Collège Notre Dame de Louaizé, Lebanon, exploring strategies for an intercultural institution (2004).
  • Field research approached strategies of school integration of students in difficulties (2003).
  • Dissertation research focused on the role and status of the Maronite Church in the search for Christian unity, a historical-theological approach (1998).
  • Field research addressed the implications of the implementation of a local area network at Notre Dame University, Lebanon (1995).
  • Dissertation research studied the continuity between Martin Luther and the Lutheran Church on the Lord’s Supper (1993).


Very active in participating and attending international conferences on higher education, Rev. Fr. Moussa plan is to reinforce the global presence of Notre Dame University-Louaize, Lebanon. Among the regular conferences and annual meetings are those organized by: the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities, American Council on Education, International Association of Universities, International Federation of Catholic Universities, Federation of Arab Universities and others…

Honors and Awards

Rev. Fr. Moussa was the recipient of several local and international honors and awards such as:

  • Salzburg Seminar Fellow (July 2000)
  • Member in the Delta Mu Delta, National Honor Society in Business Administration, U.S.A. (since 1994)
