Najib Metni is an assistant professor in the mechanical engineering department. While conducting his Ph.D. thesis in Universite de Nice Sophia-Antipolis, he was a research team leader in Laboratoire Centrale des Ponts et Chausses, Paris for the Mpbile Instrumentation Platform (PMI), a flying robot for defects and cracks' inspection in large bridges. He also conducted many projects funded by the French Foundation for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the Scientific Committee of the French Army (DGA). He spent 6 months as a visiting scholar in the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, USA where he developed an overview on Wireless Sensor Networks and their applications in the field of active control.

Najib Metni is the author of many journal and conference publications. His research interests are in mechatronics, non-linear control theory, sensor fusion, visual servoing, robotics and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). Active member of the ASME (American Society for Mechanical Engineers) and IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Najib Metni is also a technical reviewer of many refereed journals in the field of mechatronics and automated control.
